Fortunately for us, Apple just introduced an upgrade to its operating system that brings new and better travel options.

iPhones that are newer than the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, or iPhone SE 2016 can run the updated iOS 16.1. The update was released approximately one month after Apple announced the iPhone 14 series and iOS16.

The translate app gets a revamp

Are you going somewhere where you don't know the language? 
A few changes have been made to the Translate app, including the camera. 
After recording a video, users may pause it and obtain real-time translations overlaid on the Text they captured. They can even zoom in to see any fine print. 
Additionally, you may now translate Text within images in your Photos collection. 
The system now supports Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, Polish, Indonesian, and Dutch.

Apple has improved live Text to recognise any text in photos and videos. 
According to Apple, phone users can pause a video at any point and interact with the Text, including the ability to convert currencies and translate language instantly.

Multi-stop maps

Apple included multi-stop mapping to its maps as one of several significant updates that let you finally have multiple destinations on a single trip (think: long road trips where you need to plot out gas stations, hotels, rest stops, and more). 
On its website, Apple also mentioned that Maps would sync with your other devices, making it feasible to search for directions on your Mac and view them on your iPhone.

Transit cards

Without leaving the app, users of Maps can view their transit cards. 
Travellers can also view their estimated fare costs in the Maps app. 
Additionally, you may add your transit cards to your Apple Wallet, where you can check your card's balance and top it off as necessary.

Multi-stay room keys

Apple has enabled guests to use a single digital key to check in and open their room for every subsequent stay at hotels belonging to the same brand thanks to the latest iOS16 and iOS 16.1 releases. 
 This is an improvement above its previous associations with lodging establishments like Hyatt, which in 2021 became the first hotel brand to work with Apple to make its keys available in the Apple Wallet.

Additionally, you can send your keys from Wallet to your loved ones using messaging services like Messages, Mail, and WhatsApp.

Access to Apple Fitness

Now that Apple is granting everyone iPhone access to the Fitness app, you may continue your fitness regimen wherever you are.

Users of the software can communicate with other fitness apps, track their goals and steps, and more. 
The Health app has also received an update with the addition of a Meds tool to assist users in managing and tracking their medications, which may be challenging when travelling. This improvement is possibly even more significant.
