These are the newest and most exciting eateries, hotels, and hangout spots that can be found in Palm Beach, all the way down to South Beach.

gorgeous beaches

The state of Florida is in the midst of a tourism boom, having received an unprecedented number of visitors both in the previous year and in the beginning of 2023. And it's not hard to see why: Florida is home to some of the world's most breathtaking beaches, cherished theme parks, the magnificent Florida Keys, and much more. A big hotel and culinary scene has become even grander in South Florida hot places like Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Boca Raton, in addition to the bustling seaside metropolis of Miami, which is located in South Florida. Historically significant hotels such as the Mayfair House Hotel and Garden in Coconut Grove, the Pelican Hotel in South Beach, and The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach have all been given a thorough cleaning and now shine like new. In addition, brand new hotels have opened their doors, demonstrating that the hospitality industry in the greater Miami area is not only thriving but also as active as it has ever been. Here is what's new in a selection of Miami's and beyond's most popular neighbourhoods and beyond.

What Is There to Do Now in South Beach?

South Beach

The creative team at Diesel was responsible for the design of the Pelican Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1994. At the time, celebrities such as Ian Schrager, Gianni Versace, and Sylvester Stallone frequented the establishment. The hotel has undergone recent refurbishment, so all of the guest rooms and furnishings have been brought up to date. At Pelican Cafe, which is overseen by chef Wendy Cacciatore of Miami Beach's Via Emilia 9 restaurant, morning cappuccino gives way to sumptuous pasta dishes such as wild salmon gnocchi topped with caviar. Pelican Cafe is owned and operated by the same people that own and operate Via Emilia 9. Upstairs, 28 rooms have been designed in the style of classic movies, but the penthouse suite, which features an aquarium wall and a hot tub on the terrace, is by far the most popular option. It may look like the hideout of a Bond villain, but it is actually the personal style of Renzo Rosso, the founder of Diesel, and it serves as his flat when he is in residence.

The new Tony Hotel South Beach can be found just around the corner from the Pelican and stretches all the way from Ocean Drive to Collins Avenue. It was named after Tony Goldman, the creator of News Cafe and a local real estate developer. The building, which was formerly known as the Hotel of South Beach, is a beautiful example of art deco and has preserved many of the charming features that were popular in the 1930s. One of these features is the illuminated spire, which gives the new bar on the rooftop, which features cabanas and a view of the ocean, its name. In the meantime, the illustrious News Cafe from the 1980s, which was once used by Versace as a daytime gathering area, recently reopened its doors earlier this year. In the midst of the pandemic, it decided to close its doors after providing service nonstop for more than three decades. Now, the newly opened restaurant is available to satiate desires for pia colada pancakes and periodicals throughout the day. It is located directly beneath the restaurant's recognisable awning.

The Goodtime Hotel

Visit the newly opened Vintage Frames boutique at the entrance of Pharrell Williams's The Goodtime Hotel before heading out into the city if you want to take your throwback outfits to the next level before heading out into the city. Here, celebrity sunglasses stylist Corey Shapiro provides new and used frames, from vintage brands such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Matsuda, in addition to shop exclusives such as this pair equipped in 24k gold plated flamingos. Jean Paul Gaultier and Matsuda are just two of the vintage names offered.

South of Fifth is a luxury neighbourhood in South Beach that is home to both old and new classics like Joe's Stone Crab and Carbone. Going out for the night in South Beach has traditionally meant going to South of Fifth. Every night, the evening comes to a close at the newest location of Israeli chef Eyal Shani's HaSalon, where patrons can be seen dancing on tables to the music of the '90s while waiters rip up menus and hurl them into the air like confetti.

In the meantime, just up the street is the brand new Queen Miami Beach, which features a Japanese steakhouse that has taken centre stage inside of an art deco theatre that has been refurbished. Showstoppers on the menu include whole Alaskan king crabs and Wagyu tomahawks, and they are served next to a stage that Madonna and Jennifer Lopez made famous.

What's Happening Now in the Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove

Restoration projects from Coconut Grove to Palm Beach have also come to a successful conclusion in recent months. One of these projects was the Mayfair House Hotel and Garden, which is located just off Biscayne Bay between The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami and Cipriani hotel Mr. C Miami.

The property, which was once known as Mayfair Hotel and Spa, had an extensive makeover, during which time it was transformed into a timelessly beautiful eden in both its public and private areas. In the hotel's sun-kissed inner courtyard, visitors may stare up over overgrown terraces brimming with finely groomed plants while relaxing in one of the hotel's spacious guest suites that have upscale accents such as clawfoot tubs and outdoor showers. Try some wood-fired cuisine from Mayfair Grill, and match smokey sweet flatbreads and dips with traditional Caribbean cocktails. Both the food and beverage programme at the hotel's new restaurant are equally exciting.

Fox’s Lounge.

The hotel's poolside daiquiri haven, SipSip Calypso Rum Bar, is staffed by Lost Boy & Co, who are no strangers to the world of retro dining. They recently refurbished the South Miami chophouse Fox's Sherron Inn as Fox's Lounge, so they know a thing or two about the concept.

You don't have to go very far from the Mayfair to find additional restaurants that serve delicious food. Coconut Grove has long been a haven for pedestrians, but ever since the pandemic, an increasing number of restaurants that have received high praise have established here. This includes the New York bagel shop Sadelle's, where you can get luxurious lox platters and latkes royale topped with caviar, as well as The Key Club, which features dancing showgirls performing between the tables every Thursday night. Throwback experiences like as these are provided by restaurateur David Grutman, who is also reinventing luxury for the future (he is preparing his menus for private space travel, which is scheduled to begin later this year).

What's New in Miami and Elsewhere in the World

Miami and Beyond

The Arlo Wynwood, which is the first luxury boutique hotel in Miami's buzziest and most eccentric neighbourhood of the same name, has also opened its doors. The neighbourhood is known as Wynwood. Local bartenders Derek Stillman and Nate Capanos channel underground Tokyo while preparing drinks with the precision of a Ginza bar at the newly opened Bar Kaiju, which is located deep within a foodhall in Little River. Bar Kaiju is the new place to go for a unique cocktail. Any bacchanalian desire can possibly be satisfied through tableside trolley beginning at six o'clock every evening at the Champagne Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club in Surfside, which may be their sole competitor. The Four Seasons Hotel is located in Surfside. In addition, there is a new wave of international omakase experiences in town, such as Mila Omakase, which serves Filipino fusion cuisine inside a speakeasy-style members club close to the party scene Lincoln Road. Don't miss Oku, a private omakase room providing 15 courses with Korean fusion; Oku is housed inside Takato, the enormous kitchen that anchors the dining programme at Conrad Fort Lauderdale. If you're travelling north towards Fort Lauderdale, don't miss Oku.

The Boca Raton

The Boca Raton resort has reopened in Boca Raton following an extensive renovation that cost several million dollars. The resort consists of five hotels, all of which were renovated to reflect the splendour of the 1920s. In addition, there is a brand new Harborside Pool Club that features three pools, a floating river, cabanas, and other amenities. It is a paradise that blends in well with the 200 acres of magnificent beachfront that The Boca Raton possesses.

Then, to conclude your excursion through the opulence of South Florida, you should pay a visit to The Colony Hotel, Palm Beach's most prominent post-war monument. This hotel, which first opened its doors to visitors in early this year and was constructed in 1947, is celebrating its 75th birthday by having all of its rooms and suites redesigned to incorporate dreamy hand-painted murals. This is Florida in its purest form, and despite all these years, it's still going strong.
