2023-02-01  Diana Solomon

See our comprehensive guide to the great things to do in London all year long for further suggestions; however, please double-check what is open before traveling.

We come with different things to do in London every week, including methods to help the city's small businesses. These are our best suggestions this week, which range from cultural events to gourmet gatherings.

What to do this weekend in London

1 Richard Hubert Smith

1. Attend an opera

The English National Opera's announced spring calendar has gone on sale, and seats are going quickly. Be the first to see Calixto Bieito's fiery Carmen, a stunning story of love, desire, and jealousy centered around a turbulent, forbidden affair, when it returns this February by acting soon. Expect a memorable evening at the London Coliseum, one of the city's most magnificent entertainment venues, as Bieito is one of the opera world's most in-demand directors.

Location: London Coliseum, St. Martin's Lane, London, WC2N 4ES

Web address: eno.org

Price: Starting at £35

Dates: Wednesday 1 February – Friday 24 February

2. Use your coffee to change the world.

This week, the non-profit café Fair Shot will relocate, leaving Mayfair for a prominent location in The Yard in Covent Garden. Bianca Tavella started the company in 2019, to reduce the 94% unemployment rate among persons with learning difficulties by enlisting them in hospitality programs. Trainees are given a mentor and a job coach to help them into the job market. Expect specialty coffee from Curious Roo roasters and delicious brunch dishes like overnight oats with caramelized air-fried pear and a variety of freshly stuffed focaccias and gooey toasties. On Wednesday, On Wednesday 1, and Saturday 4 February, 300 complimentary coffees will celebrate their new home.

3. Check out the new gallery

Saatchi Yates opened a new gallery in St James's to kick off the capital's cultural calendar this year. Omar El Lahib, a Lebanese artist, has taken over the brand-new 10,000-square-foot space for its first open-to-the-public exhibition. The solo show will feature 18 large-scale paintings that are set in the world of nocturnal where "darkness reigns, the mysterious takes shape, and the unconscious is at liberty to make itself heard." The display will be up until Wednesday, 15th March 2023, at which point the gallery will feature exhibitions focus on the work of profoundly avant-garde artists.

4. Enjoy a drink on a winter terrace

The newest location to appreciate the splendor of winter is Ham Yard Hotel. The House of Suntory terrace is a new place in a quiet part of Soho that was designed to look like Japan and feel like Japan. The patio will alter to signify the transition from winter to spring because it is designed to change with the seasons. Put on cozy blankets, drink some warming Japanese drinks, and sit down near the heaters.

6. Remain cozy on a rooftop

The Chelsea-based Sloane Club has teamed up with Jackson Nugent Vintners and Chateau La Tuilerie de Puy to create a cozy new winter terrace that is destined to become the new hotspot for artisan cocktails and excellent wines in the thriving neighborhood. Sit in The Taiga's cozy spaces amidst pinecones, snow-covered branches, and shimmering lights inspired by the icy Arctic sky. Warming delicacies include duck spring rolls, native lobster and tiger prawn burgers, and decadent desserts; our pick is the sticky toffee and date pudding with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream.

9. Bring back the shine

The Skin Lab by Augustinus Bader at the Lanserhof in Mayfair is an innovative partnership. The two cutting-edge companies prioritize rejuvenation and repair, so the newly created Skin Lab is built around a selection of high-performance treatments. Lymphatic facial massage is a part of many facials with tempting names like "detox," "ultimate," and "rejuvenating" (it's worth it simply for this unrivaled method). The therapies make use of lab-grade technology, such as radio frequency, microneedling, microcurrent, oxygen therapy, and LED lighting. You will receive a facial that is completely customized to the demands of your skin thanks to a pre-treatment skin analysis performed with the cutting-edge device. There are furthermore more focused treatments available, such as the neck and décolleté treatment, which uses forceful lymphatic drainage and ionized oxygen, and the eye treatment (ultrasound and LED light). Everything happens in an egg-shaped room where you spend the length of the therapy pleasantly cocooned. Unsurprisingly, every therapy produces outcomes that are not just instantaneous but also quite obvious. There is no better location to go if you want to brighten, tighten, and improve your face.

Location: 17–18 Dover Street, W1S 4LT, London

The dynamic brother combo Richard and Oliver Gladwin's newest venture is The Fat Badger Restaurant Farm Shop. The two are passionate about high-quality British produce, and many of the store's products come from independent, small-scale UK producers that practice sustainable farming. There is a restaurant on site that you may reserve for enjoyable evenings or laid-back mornings with superb coffee.

The chefs at 20ft Fried Chicken employ the best free-range chicken and specially crafted sesame brioche buns stuffed with sauces, pickles, and ferments (all of which are made in-house). You may choose from buttermilk chicken burgers, wings, and sides, or brand-new items like fried chicken spring rolls. On Saturday, February 4, and Sunday, February 5, 20ft Fried Chicken will discount chicken burgers by 50% in honor of the opening. Additionally, the first 100 customers each day will also receive a free beer.
