The Best Hotels, Restaurants, and Shops in the Hamptons: Your Guide to the Ideal Long Weekend

2022-11-04  Maliyah Mah

The definitive Hamptons guide for long weekends.

Hamptons.

New Yorkers should visit the Hamptons now that the warm weather has arrived.

The lobster rolls are buttered, the white linens are out, the beach umbrellas are up, and the rosé is already pouring. Along with its legendary events, the Hamptons is also hosting a tonne of brand-new events this year.

Since the Long Island Rail Road started providing service to East Hampton and Montauk in 1895, the storied summer resort has served as a haven of understated grandeur. Here is your guide to the best of the Hamptons this season, from chic hotels and bustling restaurants to outposts of Madison Avenue's best boutiques and thriving wellness scene.

Accommodations in the Hamptons

Resort & Marina EHP

Since its debut in May of last year, EHP has become one of the Hamptons' most well-liked spots, in large part because of Si Si, its vivacious beachfront restaurant. However, the accommodations are also desirable. Individual cottages or the Harbor House, which offers single rooms as well as two- and three-bedroom suites, are available to guests. Each has stylish furnishings and bath supplies from Acqua di Parma. Tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness centers, and an all-day cafe are other highlights. Buongiorno.

Amagansett's The Roundtree

Amagansett

The Roundtree is not a scenery hotel, despite being one of the most fashionable new hotels in the Hamptons and situated in a desirable area in Amagansett. The property can resemble a home because there are only 15 rooms and cottages there. Although there isn't a restaurant here (although a continental breakfast is provided each morning in the courtyard), it frequently draws urbanites who need to work remotely because of its welcoming ambiance. When it's time to put the laptop away, visitors can step outside to play some games, get on a beach cruiser, or have s'mores every evening by the outside fire.

House of Shou Sugi Ban

Shou Sugi Ban House

The first all-encompassing wellness retreat in the Hamptons, Shou Sugi Ban House provides holistic programs that may rejuvenate even the weariest New Yorker. 13 guest studios, a spa with hydrotherapy pools and a roof terrace, a fitness facility, an organic vegetable garden, a library, and a Healing Arts Barn are all part of the secluded three-acre retreat. Aerial yoga and a vegan supper series with plant-based cuisine prepared by former Noma chef Mads Refslund are being introduced this season.

Marram Montauk This unassuming Montauk hotel bills itself as "Barefoot luxury," and we concur. Its ideal location directly on the beach with a view of the Atlantic is its main feature. There are 96 rooms, the majority of which have ocean views, a pool, sand sun loungers, and an outside restaurant open all day that provides wholesome modern American cuisine. Naturally, surfing is very important to Marram's culture, and for those wanting to paddle out, qualified instructors provide training.

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in the Hamptons

Sí Sí

Sí Sí

S S has it all: a lively ambiance, delectable Mediterranean cuisine, fantastic drinks, and a prime location on Three Mile Harbor with views of the marina. Seasonal produce, pasta, seafood, and entrees are offered on the menu, which is presented like a work of art on a plate. Try the crispy duck and melon salad, the large-format paella, or the raw scallops with blood orange.

Ambroeus Sant

This summer, Sant Ambroeus will open its first store in East Hampton, taking up Babette's former location on Newton Lane. The same Milanese cuisine that continues to draw customers to its sites in Southampton, New York City, and Palm Beach will be served there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Seaside Harbor

Sunset Harbor, like its sister restaurant S S, offers a beautiful waterfront position and a lively atmosphere accentuated with ornamental items from Greece and Morocco. Live music, family-style shared meals, inventive beverages, and decadent desserts are all available to guests. Signature meals include mussels cazuela with coconut broth, leeks, and chorizo; shrimp scampi topped with fresh crab and lemon butter; and sushi and nigiri for lighter snacks.

A. Le Bilboquet

Le Bilboquet is now open all year round because it has grown to be such a well-known Hamptons landmark. The posh restaurant is hidden away by the marina off the main drag of Sag Harbor. With elegant maître d's, gleaming yachts lined up along the sea, and a weekend DJ, this place has a distinctly Saint-Tropez vibe. Although it is famous for its cajun chicken, it also offers all the traditional fare, including a great raw bar, bouillabaisse, steak fries, and Caesar salad.

Enchanté

Enchanté, a contemporary bistro with Parisian influences, is another summer opening from the same group as EHP. Classic French meals like duck frites, escargot, and Nicoise salad will be served in a chic, glass-enclosed setting with a patio. For larger groups and gatherings, a nearby bar and semi-private dining room will also be available.

Popular Australian cafe Little Ruby's will be running the food and beverage operations at Ruschmeyer's. The restaurant, run by renowned chef Angelo Womack, is now open for breakfast, lunch, and supper. It offers all the classics from its city locations, like avocado toast and crispy rice salad, as well as locally sourced fish and a pizza menu designed especially for this area.

Where to Buy Gucci in the Hamptons

Gucci

Gucci

With a vibrant selection that includes men's and women's ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, childrenswear, home goods, jewelry, accessories, and Gucci's beauty brand, the Gucci store on Newton Lane is a paradise for summer fashion inspiration. There are many items in the store that can help you blend in if you're looking for something to enhance your everyday outfit (think: raffia bucket hats, printed scarves with the iconic interlocking Gs, classic bamboo-handle bags, and a selection of white tennis sneakers).

Northfield Pop-Up

At 395 County Road in Southampton, Nordstrom is holding a pop-up store that will be open through Labor Day. Men's and women's apparel, shoes, swimwear, and numerous cosmetics and lifestyle products will all be available this summer. If you forget your swimsuit and beach towel back in the city, the pop-up will also provide same-day delivery anywhere in the Hamptons, on-site changes, and gift wrapping.

Aerin

Searching for a lovely host gift? It's all covered by Aerin. This collection includes classy furniture, games, perfumes, clothing, and accessories. You can buy classic items like Champagne flutes, picture frames, or fragrant candles. There are also gorgeous chess and poker sets with shagreen and suede lining if you're looking for something more opulent.

Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow's well-known lifestyle company, has a chic boutique in Sag Harbor where it sells clean beauty products, books, home goods, clothing, and wellness necessities from well-known manufacturers like Dr. Barbara Sturm, Augustinus Bader, and Westman Atelier. Additionally, it offers Goop favorites like regenerating vitamins, G. Label apparel essentials, and stylish kitchenware sets.

Purple Chicken

If you're traveling with kids, Pink Chicken has some fantastic beach gear, activity books, and toys. To keep kids engaged, buy an inflatable flamingo, puzzles, or art supplies. It also carries a wide selection of premium children's apparel, swimsuits, shoes, and accessories.

Hamptons fitness, wellness, and beauty

FaceGym

DanceBody

One of the most enjoyable exercises in the neighborhood is DanceBody, which features enthusiastic teachers and fantastic music. This season, it will run sessions at a temporary venue in the Hamptons and introduce a youth initiative for kids aged six to ten that aims to improve rhythm, coordination, and self-assurance. If you'd like, DanceBody will also provide private in-home lessons where you may pick up a brand-new TikTok dance. If not, try one of the famous dance and sculpt routines before calling it a week.

Pop-Up FaceGym at SoulCycle

It comes as no surprise that FaceGym is moving to the Hamptons for the summer given that it treats celebrities before award season and supermodels before Fashion Week. The muscle-manipulating treatments offer immediate facial contouring, giving you the appearance of having just returned from a healing vacation. A pop-up location at SoulCycle in Bridgehampton will sell the distinctive "workouts," which include a signature sculpt, cryo contour, and medi lift along with a menu of glow-inducing boosters.

Ject

In an opulent setting in Bridgehampton, this boutique cosmetic spa provides medical-grade skin treatments, injectables, and noninvasive skin boosters. If you're considering fillers or botox, Ject's skilled practitioners are trained to make the procedure as comfortable as possible while also making the modifications appear natural. Try one of the well-liked facials with unique combinations of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and antioxidants for something more calming.

Anderson, Tracy

Exercises led by Tracy Anderson are renowned to yield quick results. For optimum impact, her technique mixes cardio with repetitive conditioning while focusing on smaller muscle areas. This summer, you might catch Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, and Madonna dancing with you.
