Valentine’s Day

You occasionally want to discover the ideal location to be together, whether it's a first date, anniversary, Valentine's Day, or "found a babysitter, let's go out" kind of date. Some couples enjoy a private dinner, while others discover that a romantic setting such as a sunset (or dawn), a view of city lights or the ocean, a solo promenade, or a specific place is what sparks their passion.

We've compiled a list of suggestions to keep in mind for your upcoming date night or afternoon because San Diego is home to an abundance of stunning views, enticing restaurants, and unspoiled landscapes. You might be able to add your romantic locations to our list given everything the city has to offer.

U.S. Grant Hotel,

The Wonder Bar of the historic U.S. Grant Hotel has a French décor, dim speakeasy-style lighting, sofas, music, wine, beer, cider, and specialty cocktails. It is called Romantic Cocktails and Dining Rendezvous. Before selecting the ideal location for your cocktail, stroll through the Gaslamp District and admire the glitz of the historic hotel.

Visit the Top of the Hyatt at the Manchester Grand Hyatt for another romantic setting. The lounge, located on the hotel's 40th level with floor-to-ceiling windows, offers expansive views of both the city and the Pacific. With a cocktail, a glass of champagne, or craft beer and a shared appetizer plate, watch the sunset.

The Gaslamp Quarter's Pool House at the Pendry San Diego offers stunning views of the city skyline in addition to beverages and a modern indoor/outdoor setting. You might choose to go on with the evening in the Oxford Social Club, where there will be music and a cozy ambiance.

A special night out at Mr. A's is always a hit. The vast French-American menu offers both traditional and contemporary fare, all of which is presented with great style in an opulent setting with views of the city and harbor.

In La Jolla, the Marine Room is the best place to eat seaside while enjoying eye-level views of the cove, ocean, and sunset. In a stunning location, guests can savor local seafood, regional classics, small dishes, cocktails, and wines.

Views and Activities

Romantic viewpoints and behaviors

The gardens at Balboa Park provide secluded areas where couples can wander hand in hand or take a bench seat and take in the scenery. The trails in the Japanese Friendship Garden lead visitors past flowerbeds, cherry trees, koi ponds, and bonsai exhibitions. The Alcazar Garden, which features fountains, vibrant flowers, Moorish tiles, and a covered pergola, is based on the gardens of the Alcazar Castle in Seville, Spain.

The Point Loma Peninsula's southernmost point, Cabrillo National Monument, offers views of the port, city skyline, and ocean. Explore the tidepools, take a stroll along the Coastal Trail, and take in the fresh air.

Take a sailboat, yacht, gondola, or catamaran out on San Diego Bay at dusk. A drink or dinner cruise is another option. Find your ideal journey in La Jolla, Mission Bay, Point Loma, or downtown San Diego.

Visit Seaport Village to look around the stores, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the scenery. Take a trip on the vintage carousel for entertainment and romance.

Visit Sunset Cliffs, a tiny coastal park that makes a great viewing location for the sun to set into the water. The best views are at the top of the bluffs, which is a short, straightforward trek away. San Diego has several great coastal hiking paths if you and your partner are looking for a romantic excursion.

A date can be made with a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Experiences are made memorable by the beautiful surroundings, vibrant fauna, and jovial behavior of the zoo's inhabitants.
