Now, you may use free WiFi on the majority of Delta flights.

Delta has you covered if you're tired of paying for in-flight internet connectivity or, even worse, disconnecting entirely while you soar through the blue skies.

Beginning on February 1, Delta will provide free Wi-Fi to SkyMiles members on its 540 Viasat-equipped planes, which include the majority of the Boeing 737-900ER and 757-200 planes as well as the full fleet of Airbus A321s.

The release of Delta Sync, the business' new and more individualised entertainment experience, coincides with this information. With Delta Sync, users will receive personalised content recommendations, real-time flight notifications, games developed by the New York Times, travel guides from Atlas Obscura, and Resy restaurant recommendations.

Years ago, CEO Ed Bastian promised that the airline would someday provide free Wi-Fi with download speeds that were comparable to what customers were used to on the ground.

In 2021, the business retrofitted the majority of its fleet with the most recent satellite-based Viasat services. However, the airline didn't start offering free Wi-Fi on a couple of its flights until late November. (This came after a fruitful test of providing free internet to its frequent flyers.)

In a statement, Bastian stated that "the future of travel" will see "your digital and real experiences come together in a seamless warm, and intimate way, making those human travel connections even more significant."

Regardless of the length of the flight, passengers who are not SkyMiles members can purchase Wi-Fi for $10. Anyone interested in joining SkyMiles can do it for no cost while in the air.

By the end of the year, more than 700 aircraft will have Wi-Fi, and international and regional planes will have it by the end of 2024, according to the business.
