These are the top Airbnb vacation rentals to reserve for 2023.

2022-11-18  Diana Solomon

These are the trendiest Airbnbs to know about, from a Paris apartment with a view to a brand-new party home in Costa Rica.

Thanks to Airbnb, your bucket list for travel in 2023 is likely to grow significantly. Recent modifications to the vacation rental website are intended to make it simpler for hosts to post their properties on Airbnb and for visitors to discover the ideal place to stay. Airbnb has introduced six new search categories, including verified accessible houses, properties located at an altitude of roughly 10,000 feet, and getaways with a "play" component, such as gaming rooms or water slides, in addition to the updated set-up, safeguards, and coverage. Another intriguing new category is "trending," which displays the houses with the greatest ratings and most views on the website. This is essentially a list of the trendiest Airbnbs from around the world. Here are a few of the residences that caught our attention.

paris

A Paris, France apartment with a view of the Eiffel Tower

Contrary to what Hollywood movies may lead you to assume, it is actually quite uncommon to stay immediately next to the Eiffel Tower (Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel would be the nearest hotel). This is one of the reasons why the Viognier apartment is the most popular Airbnb in Paris. The apartment is on the sixth floor and has a lovely balcony with front-row views of the Eiffel Tower. It is located in the 7th arrondissement of the Left Bank, close to the Parc du Champ-de-Mars. The apartment itself is a rare discovery in the French capital, with notable amenities including air conditioning, a spacious kitchen, a separate laundry room, and an elevator, in addition to the outstanding location.

greek

A Cycladic cave home on the Greek island of Santorini

From the first picture of a curving cliffside balcony overlooking the turquoise Aegean Sea, it's not hard to see why this medieval cave home is the most popular Airbnb in the Greek Islands and one of our top recommendations for the coolest Airbnb in Europe. It was once a bakery close to Oia's major pedestrian street, but local artisans have masterfully renovated it to provide contemporary conveniences while retaining many of the building's original features. The original cistern has been transformed into a cave bedroom that is lit and designed with an emperor-size bed. A private entrance separates the main bedroom from the rest of the property. Although staying within the cave makes for a unique experience, the private whirlpool and caldera view elevate this location to the top of Santorini.

maxico

A home with a distinctive design in Baja California, Mexico

Greetings from the house that is attractive from every viewpoint. An award-winning Vancouver architect, Javier Campos, created the Costa Azul in San Jose del Cabo, which is characteristic of many Baja beach houses but done to minimalist perfection with a free-flowing open layout. Throughout the large villa, there are indoor-outdoor areas, including open-sky showers in the principal ensuite bathrooms, open-air halls, a rooftop gym, and an outdoor bathtub and daybed surrounded by cactus and agave plants. The centerpiece of the home is the swimming pool, which is smoothly incorporated into an open-concept living space next to an alcove perfect for doing yoga or simply unwinding on the fringed hammock. The house's clean, white lines and the rough, natural materials like polished concrete, jute, and wood inside make it feel like a dream vacation in Baja California.

USA

Californian desert home in the color black in the United States

The strange and isolated Black Desert House has drawn the attention of Airbnb visitors as well as Architectural Digest due to its all-black exterior and interior. The 2012 construction of the futuristic project, designed by Oller and Pejic Architecture, was inspired by the idea of building a home that would resemble a shadow in the surrounding area. The mansion is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that allow guests to enjoy the 440-acre private countryside from various angles. The heated infinity pool is set between towering rocks and is flanked by a spacious patio with lounge chairs and an outdoor dining area. These may be enjoyed from the sunken living room, by the cozy fireplace, as well as from these locations.

Ireland

A foolish tower in Ireland's Louth

One of Ireland's best-known Airbnbs is located in the country's lush countryside, around an hour's drive from Dublin. The Victorian tower, which is rather tall, has four stories that are all accessible by a winding staircase that ascends 43 steps to the summit. The castellated roof patio provides 360-degree views and is lit at night so you can eat under the stars, so it's worth the hike. The unusual hideaway was first constructed in 1858 as a folly tower by William Drummond Delap in honor of his late mother. In recent years, it was turned into a small house and updated with a functional kitchen on the first floor, a charming living room with Chesterfield sofas, red velvet drapes, and a book collection on the second floor, and a cozy bedroom with an ensuite on the third floor.

Costa Rica

A brand-new luxury property on Costa Rica's Santa Teresa Beach

The freshly constructed Villa el Mango was only completed in 2021, making it one of the most sought-after locations along the Santa Teresa coastline. It is carved into a lush hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There is no doubt that this was meant to be the perfect party pad, as seen by the saltwater infinity pool, outdoor kitchen, and sun loungers in the rear. Every aspect has been taken into account, including the open layout, ceiling-to-floor windows, and a kitchen that any home cook would like. All of the bedrooms, which are principal bedrooms with their own ensuites and private terraces, are sure to impress.

Spain

A medieval castle in Spain's Catalonia

One of the oldest accommodations on Airbnb may be the Castle of Llaés. The fortified castle on top of the mountain, replete with a parade square and a Romanesque-style chapel, dates back to the tenth century. It took the castle owners about 20 years to transform the structure, a protected historical heritage property, into a cozy country home with a contemporary kitchen and four bathrooms. The castle's medieval past is clear everywhere, and the old furniture makes it feel even more like the Middle Ages.

Finland
Igloo made of snow in Finland's Lapland

You can reserve a night in an igloo at Lucky Ranch, a horse farm and activity center in Lapland, which is more of a bucket-list experience than a straightforward Airbnb booking. Every winter, the family-run ranch constructs the snow igloos, which are furnished with comfortable mattresses, cozy sleeping bags, and LED lights to simulate a glamping experience. Also accessible to visitors is a cozy home with restrooms, a shower, a living room, and a kitchen. Keep an eye out for the Northern Lights when crossing between the two.

Four people can sleep in each igloo.

Cost: Starting at £114 per night

Bali

Bali, Indonesian bamboo lodge

This Ubud Airbnb is surrounded by tall palm trees and rice farms. Its location, together with the neighboring waterfall and natural river, is enough to make it a popular address. However, the building itself, a fanciful bamboo loft in the shape of an egg, is what makes this hideaway a genuinely exceptional place to stay. Bamboo is used extensively within the cocoon, from the little lounge's sofa and coffee table to the outdoor shower and even the stairway. Upstairs, the big bed made of bamboo is covered with a much-needed mosquito net, so you can sleep outside under the stars.
