The 18th Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ship, Norwegian Prima, had its U.S. premiere in New York City earlier this month.
I boarded this 3,100-passenger ship, the first of NCL's Prima class, to find out what makes it unique.

Through March, the ship will depart from New York City, Miami, and Orlando (Port Canaveral) on five-, seven-, and nine-day Caribbean and Bermuda itineraries.
After crossing the Atlantic from New York City to Iceland, Prima will spend the summer cruising Northern Europe.
Here are some of my favorite areas on board that distinguish the ship.

The Haven is Norwegian Cruise Line's little ship inside a big boat, giving passengers a higher level of service and facilities.
Beginning with its private elevators that take you up to its 107 Haven rooms, The Haven is providing you with even more exclusivity and access to Norwegian Prima.
But what makes The Haven unique is what lies outside your apartment in this upscale neighborhood, featuring its exclusive lounge, bar, and restaurant.
You may unwind outside in The Haven Courtyard's infinity pool, hot tubs, and outdoor spa, which has a glass-walled sauna and cold room.
A butler is available around-the-clock, a concierge manages all cruise arrangements, and guests at The Haven have the option to avoid lines.

One of the eight specialty restaurants accessible for an additional fee was not Beyond The Haven, my favorite place to eat on the ship and a new offering for NCL, but rather the accessible Indulge Food Hall. The fantastic restaurant is open for all three meals and offers a variety of international food digitally from your table. Choose the foods you want, make your order, and your delectable meal will appear at your table in minutes. The Australian lamb chops and tenderloin from the Seaside Rotisserie were my favorites. There are further Indian, Latin, Italian, and BBQ cuisines at Indulge. You can choose from a range of deserts that are on exhibit. Indulge's Coco's offers luxury artisanal chocolate and ice cream that would look good on Instagram.

While Prima raises the bar for culinary excellence on NCL ships, the fun, games, and entertainment are also cutting-edge.
The Prima Speedway, the first three-story racetrack at sea, and The Drop, the first free-fall dry slide on a ship, offer thrilling rides that will have your heart racing.
Visit the Galaxy Pavilion for virtual entertainment on the racing simulators, an escape room, or to hone your golf swing.
Dartboards are available in private sections at The Bull's Eye.
Pickleball, foosball, tabletop shuffleboard, high-tech miniature golf, and even beer pong are all available at The Stadium (yes, really).
Of course, there is also a casino where you may play all kinds of games.

Norwegian Prima features a variety of live performances, including duos, soloists, and a Caribbean band in the Penrose Atrium and the cozy Metropolitan Bar.
Syd Norman's Pour House's house band, which consists of vocalists and other musicians, plays rock music to a packed house, so get there early to obtain a spot.
But it was "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical," a somewhat shortened version of the Broadway production, that most delighted me as I joined the company in singing along to songs we all knew and loved, including Kimberley Locke from "American Idol."
Return for late-night dancing at the three-story Prima Theater's nightclub, where chairs vanish into secret storage areas.
Check out the intimate comedy theatre if that's more your style.

There are many Zen zones where you can find your ideal location at sea to do absolutely nothing when you'd prefer to unwind without the lure of Broadway-style entertainment and escape rooms. Start outside on deck eight, which has several private areas (and swinging chairs), perfect for reading a book or simply gazing out at the horizon. You may walk around the entire ship, including across glass walkways that provide a glimpse into the water below, on Ocean Boulevard, which is also on deck eight. For various relaxing treatments, as well as time in the Flotation Salt Pool, infrared sauna, charcoal sauna, Ice Room, and lounge spaces, head indoors to Mandara Spa & Salon. Or
grab a lounger at La Terraza or Infinity Beach, where a dip in the infinity pool makes you feel when sailing like you're on the edge of the world.
