The newest hotels to watch out for worldwide

new hotel

Team Traveller gets delighted as the new year approaches since it means there will be new hotels to swoon over at least. These openings, which are all scheduled for 2023, are certainly psyching us up for the travel possibilities that lie in wait for us.

In the next months, openings that have been eagerly anticipated will appear all over the world: in London and Paris, Texas and Hawaii, Indonesia and Japan, Burgundy and Brussels. As new hotels are announced, this page will be updated.

Winter and spring 2023 hotel openings

a Boys Hall, Kent

Kent, England's Boys Hall

You may travel 35 minutes by rail from London to get to this Jacobean manor home in the heart of Kent, which features 10 bedrooms, a restaurant, and walled gardens to explore. New business owners Bradley and Kristie Lomas have glittering resumes. While Bradley launched East London Pub Co., Kristie founded the defunct King's Cross establishment Drink, Shop, and Do. The restaurant, terraces, and bar will offer food made with products from the kitchen gardens, and there will be a wine cellar with 4,000 bottles—ideal for long, leisurely meals in the sunshine.

Launched in January 2023, boys-hall.com

Wayfinder Waikiki,  USA, Hawaii

This box-fresh entrance is located directly on the Ala Wai canal in the Honolulu neighborhood of Hawaii. The Brutalist architecture in these spaces has been softened by The Vanguard Theory's use of all-natural furnishings and copious amounts of flora. Just eight minutes walk from the beach are a coffee shop, a pool bar, and a branch of Redfish, a popular poke restaurant on the island.

Wayfinder Hotels, which debuts in January 2023

b Cap Koroso

Sumba, Indonesia's Cap Karoso

The first property owned by new hoteliers Fabrice and Eve Ivara, who purchased this parcel of land after visiting the region in 2017, is this eco-focused resort in the surfing hotspot Sumba. The crew asked permission from 600 residents to acquire ancestor approval before beginning the endeavor, and they were given. The rooms and villas were built with local, sustainable materials by Jakarta-based Bitte Design Studio and award-winning architect Gary Fell, paying homage to the Ivara's Parisian origins. A local team will administer the on-site farm, which also contains a kids' club, an activity center for visitors, and a school of agriculture for the community. These facilities will include a beach club, outdoor cinema, spa, and restaurant. This environmentally friendly mentality is essential to the hotel; at least 80% of the workforce will be employed locally, and 50% of its electricity will come from its solar panel park.

Opens in the winter of 2023; capkaroso.com

USA, Kansas City, Aida

Author Caitlin Morton suggested the winter opening of Aida as one of many reasons to add Kansas City to your list when she suggested it as one of the top US destinations to visit in 2023. It comes from the same group as big sister and neighbor The Truitt, an eight-room boutique that garnered admirers with its commitment to the community. Aida offers more of the same: eight exquisitely decorated rooms within a short stroll from some of Kansas City's most picturesque and historic neighborhoods.

Aidakc.com launches in February 2023

c Art'otel Battersea

Istanbul, Turkey, The Peninsula

The Peninsula Istanbul, which looks out over the Bosphorus in the city, is putting a big focus on local brands. Zeynep Fadllolu, who was the first woman to design a mosque when she worked on Istanbul's akirin Mosque, took care of the interior, and fashion designer Arzu Kaprol made stylish clothes for the staff. The hotel's rooftop restaurant, Gallada, is managed by Fatih Tutak, chef patron of the two-Michelin-starred Turk Fatih Tutak. It is spread among four structures that have been pieced together (three historic, including a soaring former ferry terminal).

Peninsula.com will debut in February 2023.

England's Art'otel Battersea in London

Battersea has had a great resurgence in London during the previous 12 months. The coal-fired, Grade II-listed Battersea Power Station received a complete renovation over 50 years after shut down in the 1970s. It reopened in 2022 with a ton of stores, eateries, theaters, and movie theaters. The 164 art-inspired rooms at the Art'otel, which will debut in 2023 on the upper levels of the power plant, will have a rooftop bar and pool, a spa, and a restaurant by Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa.

Launches in February 2023, batterseapowerstation.co.uk

d Six Senses Crans Montana

Switzerland's Six Senses Crans-Montana

Six Senses is now on a roll; with the debut of Six Senses Ibiza, a newcomer to the Balearics that is already outpacing the competition, the company is set to debut hotels in New York, the Loire Valley, Rome, Austria, and Iceland. But we're focusing on this Swiss Alpine summit location. With the 2020 ski season cut short, 2021 canceled, and 2022 muted by the Omicron comeback, 2023 is the focus. Six Senses Crans-Montana will include all the distinguishing features of the glitzy brand: a vast spa with separate areas for children and teens and a sun deck with views of the slopes. It will be two hours by train from Geneva.

Sixsenses.com debuts in February 2023

Singapore's Mondrian

The Mondrian (now present in places like East London, Los Angeles, and Doha) has never been available in Asia until this Duxton Hill debut. It is a high-rise, as you might anticipate, but architects successfully drew influence from the Chinese shophouses and art culture in the neighborhood to make it more rooted and artistic than you may initially think. The hotel has a pool, rooftop bar, and rooms that are dotted with locally commissioned art. There are also a few more eateries, ranging from a steakhouse to a casual diner.

Ennismore.com will debut in March 2023.

e Hoxton, Brussels

Belgium's Hoxton Brussels

The Hoxton is the master of retro-cool. In 2022, hotels in Barcelona and Shepherd's Bush opened, and in 2023, new, fascinating hotels will start to appear. It will be the first location of the group's co-working brand Working From in Europe, and it will have a 1970s feel. A Hoxton will open in Berlin this year as well.

thehoxton.com launches in April 2023

Japan's Bulgari Tokyo

The gleaming new Bulgari Tokyo house is in a structure that isn't nearly as tall as a skyscraper. Officially, they are structured taller than 300 meters, however, the Bulgari family's new residence is almost there at 240 meters. One of the few Japanese openings to look forward to this year, the hotel will occupy the top seven floors and include an 82-foot indoor pool, an 82-square-foot Bulgari Spa, and restaurants and bars with outdoor terraces.

bulgarihotels.com debuts in April 2023

f Raffles London at The OWO

Raffles, The OWO, London, England

Is this 2023's most eagerly anticipated hotel in London? Potentially. Glossy hotel chain Raffles (Singapore, Dubai) will make its London debut in the Old War Office in Whitehall. The Baroque structure will be made publicly accessible for the first time since the Ministry of Defense stopped using it in the 1960s. The 11 restaurants and bars spread across the hotel and homes should provide something for everyone. The OWO have appeared in every one of Daniel Craig's most recent movies, so prepare for a James Bond moment.

Spring 2023 is opening theowo.london

Melides, Portugal's Hotel Vermelho

Is this the most eagerly anticipated hotel in Europe? Certainly, that is how it feels. Since 2013, when Christian Louboutin photographed a campaign here, the Portuguese coastline has been well-known. It was the area's first major publicity campaign. The rumors about the designer building a hotel have been around for a while, and in spring 2023, Hotel Vermelho will officially open its doors. In case you didn't know, the Portuguese word "vermelho" (which translates to "red") is "a homage to the signature color of Louboutin's shoes' soles," according to CNT Spain editor David Moralejo, who recommended Melides as one of the 23 great locations to visit in 2023. Finding one of the 13 rooms will be the biggest trick of the year because they are all carefully selected with local tiles and artwork.

VermelhoHotel.com will debut in April 2023.

g COMO Le Montcharet

COMO  Le Montrachet,  Burgundy, France

The first COMO hotel debuted in London 30 years ago, and 14 more have been added by the firm since then, from Bali (COMO Shambhala Estate) to the Maldives (COMO Cocoa Island) and elsewhere. This year, the first COMO property in France will open in Burgundy. It will take advantage of its location in Winelands, which gives it access to the highly sought-after Grand Cru vineyards. Heritage buildings are set up around a traditional place and have 31 bedrooms, places to eat, and a spa.

Spring 2023 opening le-montrachet.com

USA, Jackson Hole, Rusty Parrot

This family-owned store had to close in 2019 due to a tragic fire, but after a complete refurbishment, it will reopen in 2023. In addition to a pool, a patio, and a bar are all situated in stylish settings, the restaurant Wild Sage and the spa Body Sage will also be returning to new locations.

Rustyparrot.com is opening in the spring of 2023.

h Mandarin Oriental Hanover Square

London, England's Mandarin Oriental in Mayfair

We listed Mayfair as one of the top 13 tourist destinations in the UK for 2023, partly because of the opening of London's second Mandarin Oriental. Opening on the corner of one of Mayfair's oldest squares, it is the younger sister of the venerable Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Akira Back, a Michelin-starred chef of Korean descent, will run two eateries, a bar, and a rooftop area in his first appearance in the United Kingdom. A wellness center will also have a spa and a 25-meter pool. This stylish entry is set to elevate Mayfair to the status of London's must-see neighborhood.

Spring 2023 opening mandarinoriental.com

Glasgow's House of Gods

When recommending Glasgow, Scotland's second city, as one of the top destinations in the UK in 2023, contributor and local Glasgow resident Steve King wrote: "The House of Gods promises, by Zeus, to deliver a celestial thunderbolt of louche, sleepless, neon-lit, velvet-upholstered luxury." The opening will feature more of the same, including "velvety extravagance, neon signs against Gucci heron wallpaper, and an atmosphere of playful decadence," in keeping with the brand's Edinburgh premiere (see more in our compilation of the top hotels in Edinburgh).

House of Gods Hotel will open in the spring of 2023.

i Son Net

Spain's Son Net on Mallorca

We immediately dubbed Finca Cortesin, a lavish Andalusian hotel, as one of Spain's top hotels when it first debuted a few years ago. Therefore, this follow-up by the same team, which is located in Mallorca just outside of Palma, is one to watch. This opulent residence is crammed with art and built around an old internal courtyard on a 17th-century estate in the Tramuntana Mountains, which are included as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Private cabanas will surround a few pools scattered throughout the grounds' acres of gardens. There will also be a vineyard and a century-old olive oil press there.

Spring 2023 opening sonnet.es

France's Le Grand Mazarin in Paris

Le Grand Mazarin, which is set to open in the spring, will be no exception. Those who love the city get excited when a new location in Le Marais opens. The fabled Parisian literary salons of the early 20th century served as inspiration for Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, who managed the famed interiors of Annabel's in Mayfair. There is even a swimming pool, which is unusual for this metropolis.

Spring 2023 opening legrandmazarin.com

j Six Senses Rome

Six Senses Roma, Italy

The fact that this will be the first Six Senses resort to open in Italy is incredible. A palazzo setting only steps from the Pantheon and Fontana di Trevi, together with a courtyard garden and rooftop terrace, are all features of a luxurious Roman hotel. The Six Senses business has meticulously renovated the building's UNESCO-listed façade while preserving other swoon-worthy original elements, such as the main staircase. Naturally, there will also be a Six Senses Spa modeled after historic Roman baths and a trattoria-style restaurant that embraces the organic philosophy of the company. Six Senses are leading the way in the revival of Rome.

Sixsenses.com debuts in the spring of 2023

France's La Fantaisie in Paris

Booking a hotel room with a balcony in Paris is like winning the lottery, and Martin Brudnizki's La Fantaisie features several places with terraces that open either into the city's slate-grey skyline or the central courtyard. A restaurant and bar that open onto Rue Cadet will be located in the still-hip 9th arrondissement and will be run by Dominique Crenn, a French-born chef who has spent much of her career in the USA and was the first female chef to manage a restaurant that received three Michelin stars. There will also be a spa and a rooftop bar to check out.

Opens in the spring of 2023, lafantaisie

Summer 2023: hotels opening

k Oetker Collection Hotel La Palma in Capri

Capri, Italy's Hotel La Palma

Just over 200 years ago, in 1822, Capri's first hotel opened its doors. The Oetker Collection and the Reuben Brothers (Le Bristol in Paris, Eden Rock in St. Barths, and Jumby Bay in the Caribbean) have now taken over the all-white structure on the most famous Italian island (the shiny new Mondrian Shoreditch, The Palazzo Experimental in Venice). A key selling feature on this constantly-bustling isle is careful renovations have reduced the number of rooms from 80 to 50, and each one has a balcony. The iconic Piazzetta of Capri is nearby, and those who are willing to go a short distance to the shore can reserve a daybed at the hotel's laid-back hangout, La Palma Beach Club.

Oetkercollection.com debuts in the summer of 2023.

l 100 Princes Street

Scotland's Edinburgh, 100 Princes Street

As the Scottish capital became a popular travel destination for Victorian tourists in the 19th century, Sir John Clark of Penicuik's elegant home, 100 Princes Street, was converted into a hotel. A few hundred years later, Red Carnation Hotels—the company behind Ireland's Ashford Castle—renovated the Georgian building on one of Edinburgh's busiest streets with decor influenced by fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Many of the rooms have views of Edinburgh Castle, the most notable sight in the city, but the 200-strong fine wine wall from the family-run Bouchard Finlayson vineyard excites us the most.

100princes-street.com launches in August 2023

Autumn 2023: Hotels that will open

Greece's Athens, One&Only Aesthesis

One of the standout stays for 2021 was One&Only's most recent European debut in Montenegro. The 2023 sequel is situated on a luxury beachside villa in one of our favorite cities, Athens. Mezes and typical Grecian cuisine will highlight locally produced ingredients, rooms will center on views of the Athenian Riviera, and the spa will provide treatments in collaboration with Chenot Spa.

oneandonlyresorts.com opens in the autumn of 2023

Bowie House, USA, Fort Worth, Texas

This Fort Worth venture, which was formerly a restaurant called Rick's On The Bricks and a bar called The Ginger Man, is all about revitalizing a beloved neighborhood hangout. Stanly Ranch in Napa Valley and Hotel Jerome in Aspen are under the management of Auberge Resorts. A restaurant, lobby bar, patio, and 88 guestrooms and 18 suites make up this Texas-sized boutique hotel.

Opens in the autumn of 2023; aubergeresorts.com

Bhutan's &Beyond Punakha River Lodge

Bhutan, a nation with an abundance of upscale lodges to select from, will host the opening of &Beyond's first Asian resort. However, the offering from &Beyond is situated directly on the banks of the Mo Chu River and looks out over the Himalayan Mountains. The spa and yoga studio, the safari-type tents, the one-room River House Suites with hot tubs, and a family suite with a private pool, have all been constructed in the traditional Bhutanese style. Travelers may try their hand at rafting, fishing, or archery, visit nearby farms, and take cooking workshops.

Late 2023 opening andbeyond.com

Bulgari Rome, Italy

Nearly 20 years ago, the glitzy Italian jewelry company launched its first hotel. Since then, it has added glitzy outposts in London, Dubai, Bali, and recently, Paris. The launch of Bulgari Roma in 2023 will take place in a modernist structure constructed in the 1930s and located close to the Spanish Steps. In addition to a three Michelin-starred restaurant run by Niko Romito in a 16th-century Abruzzo monastery, the property will also have a spa, a top-floor bar with enviable views, an appointment-only jewelry history reading room, and other amenities when it opens in the fall.

bulgarihotels.com will debut in 2023.
