2023-02-28  Uziel Udayle

If you want a fun blend of perfect weather and enviable deals, traveling in March is a terrific option. There are many wonderful locations to visit in March, depending on your travel objectives (whether they be to ski, sightsee, or simply lay on a beach). You'll arrive early enough to avoid the boisterous spring break throng as a bonus.

March visitors will enjoy Australia's warm Fall temperatures in addition to making the most of spring in nations like the US and Ireland.

When the pink and white cherry blossoms are in full bloom, Washington, D.C. shines. For St. Patrick's Day, Dublin proudly displays its Irish heritage. This month, India's famous celebration of colors, Holi, entices tourists. Phuket is the ideal location for a tropical island getaway in March.

Check out our list of the top destinations to visit in March for more suggestions on where to travel for a trip in the early spring.

1. Washington, D.C.

downright

During cherry blossom season, Washington, D.C. appears absolutely stunning. When surrounded by the delicate pink and white flowers, the iconic sights of the American capital, like the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, have a softer appearance. When the cherry blossoms are at their best, a stroll around the Tidal Basin will make you feel as though you've entered an oil painting.

It might be challenging to plan a trip to Washington, DC, to catch the cherry blossoms. As early as mid-March or as late as mid-April might see peak bloom. The best course of action is to schedule your trip for mid- to late-March, stay as long as you can, and cross your fingers.

2. Ireland's Dublin

affair

St. Patrick's Day in Dublin is more than just a one-day event; it's a nearly weeklong extravaganza of Carnival-style celebrations that brighten up the Irish metropolis. This top March destination will have thousands of revelers (clad in green attire and wearing leprechaun hats) dancing in the streets of Dublin's Temple Bar district, as well as live performances of Irish folk music, a traditional procession, and a heavy dose of Irish pride.

See Dublin's other amazing sights when you need a break from the busy party. The 40-acre campus of Trinity College will begin to turn green in March, and St. Stephens Green is a tranquil haven away from the city. The Small Museum at Dublin offers visitors further information about Dublin's past way of life.

3. Mexico's Riviera Maya

surf

The gorgeous Riviera Maya is the place to go if you want a holiday with a side of sun, sand, and surf. This popular Mexican destination is one of the best locations to visit in March for beach lovers and families looking to spend a few days (or more) sinking their toes into the warm, soft sand.

The best tourist attractions in the area are easily accessible in March thanks to the moderate weather and mainly sunny skies. There are lots of enjoyable things to do in the Riviera Maya in March, whether you want to stroll around a quaint beach village, explore Tulum's Mayan ruins, or zipline through the treetops.

Visit Chichén Itzá on the afternoon of the Spring Equinox for a totally unique experience (March 20th). One of Mexico's top Mayan ruins is this one. Shadows that like a snake descending the pyramid move slowly down the northern staircase as the sun sets.

4. Istanbul, Turkey,

crowds

Istanbul is another of the finest locations to travel to in March in terms of crowds and weather. For tourists seeking typically pleasant temperatures without having to deal with the intense influx of people during the summer months, it's a sweet spot in this perennially popular city. Try to find discounts on lodging and excursions, especially earlier in the month.

Istanbul is a fantastic place to go exploring because each tourist spot has something absolutely unique to offer. See the Basilica Cistern underground, which was shown in the James Bond movie From Russia With Love. Shop at one of the Grand Bazaar's countless stores.

Your breath will be taken away by the Blue Mosque's intricate tiling and domed stained-glass ceilings. Overall, travelers find Istanbul's East-meets-West culture to be a fascinating encounter. For even more adventure, organize some day trips from the city.

5. Australia's Sydney

slew

For a variety of reasons, Sydney is among the finest destinations to visit in March, with its exceptional weather ranking at the top. Beginning of Autumn offers visitors to this Australian haven the ideal chance to enjoy the main attractions of the city (both inside and out) without perspiring or shivering through their jumpers (sweaters).

A true crime would be to skip seeing the Sydney Opera House. Attend a concert, sign up for a tour, or come at night to see the free Badu Gili light show, which lasts seven minutes.

In Sydney, March is referred to as "art month." There are numerous activities available, including a walking tour of four art galleries, engaging seminars, studio visits, magnificent exhibitions, and much more.

Another event that you must go to is the March Dance Festival. Around 100 performers will play throughout this month-long festival at a variety of locations across the city.

6. Valencia, Spain,

velencia

Due to one extremely special event, Las Fallas, Valencia is among the top destinations to visit in March. There are 19 days of events during this festival, which is listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, and they are all focused on fire.

The festivities evolved from an ancient carpenter's custom that involved building a bonfire and using it to burn bits of wood that served as lights over the winter to signal the arrival of spring. The fallas, or papier-mâché floats, that are paraded and lit burned at midnight during this fiesta today were inspired by the fire as neighbors began to add their scraps to it, giving it the appearance of a human form.

Visitors have a lot to do during the entire month of March thanks to Las Fallas. On any day of the festival, go to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 2 p.m. to enjoy a special pyrotechnic show called mascletà. See the Flower Ofrenda at the Plaza de la Virgen, a stunning 15-meter-tall floral display.

Watch as more than 750 cartoon-themed papier-mâché creations are judged (and pick your favorite!). Then during the festival's final three nights, see the night sky light up with spectacular fireworks displays that go off at midnight.

7. Bangkok, Thailand, Phuket

seawater

Do you plan to travel in March somewhere with immaculate white sand, clear water, and craggy limestone cliffs? Phuket will take care of you. It is one of the finest locations to travel in March because the island, which sits off the southwest coast of the Thai mainland, offers vacationers fantastic beach weather (think: temperatures between 25 and 34 degrees Celsius, with almost no danger of rain) during this time of year.

Due to the busy season, you will need to factor higher-than-average accommodation and flight prices into your vacation budget. Bookings should be made as far in advance as possible.

Instead of jam-packing your schedule with activities, simply making plans to laze on Phuket's stunning beaches will make your trip unforgettable. The top beaches for swimming and tanning include Patong Beach, Kata Beach, and Karon Beach.

8. Mexico's capital city

springtime

In March, when springtime weather is delightfully mild and the calendar has begun to fill up with enjoyable activities, Mexico's vibrant capital glows. March's events include Semana Santa, the birthday of Benito Juárez (March 21), Festival de México in el Centro Histórico (which lasts nearly the entire month), and Benito Juárez's birthday (March 21).

The National Palace, the Frida Kahlo Museum, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and other popular tourist destinations in Mexico City are all fun to explore in March.

9. Czech Republic Prague

bursts

Prague has a beautiful spring. Even in March, when temperatures can still be a little cool, the city is brimming with life after a long winter. Expect mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures, and little precipitation.

You should visit Prague's Easter Markets in the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square if your trip happens to fall on Easter, a significant holiday in Eastern Europe. Enjoy the colorful environment while shopping for ornate Czech Easter eggs to bring home as gifts.

No matter what the day of the week, March is a fantastic month to visit Prague's main attractions. On a bright day, explore the Prague Castle, the largest castle complex on the planet, and take in the lovely old statues at the Charles Bridge. Warm yourself at the National Museum and the St. Vitus Cathedral if it's still chilly outside.

10. Nevada's Las Vegas

cosider

If "Sin City" has been beckoning to you, think about going this spring. One of the best destinations to travel in March is Las Vegas. There is little to no danger of rain, and the desert's temperature range of 49 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit makes it ideal for touring.

Also, this time of year is much less crowded in this glittering city. With a little luck, you can get a terrific rate at a high-rise hotel and avoid the lines at Las Vegas' biggest tourist destinations.

Every visitor to Vegas must stroll along "The Strip," a 2.5-mile-long stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard. Some of the most well-known attractions in the city border its perimeter, including the enormous Statue of Liberty at the New York-New York Hotel, the replica of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Las Vegas, and the Bellagio's dancing fountains.

But Las Vegas also offers some entertaining day trips. To experience some of the grandeur of nature in the American West, think about splurging on a helicopter trip of the Grand Canyon or going on a guided tour of Red Rock Canyon.

11. Whistler, British Columbia,

squeeze

You haven't had your fill of powder this season, have you? A final ski excursion to Whistler, one of Canada's top ski resorts, should be planned. Depending on the mountain and the weather, the ski season often lasts until the end of March or even into the middle of April.

Non-skiers may find plenty to do in Whistler as well. Anybody with a thirst for speed will get an adrenaline rush on a snowmobiling journey, while kids enjoy tubing down the slopes. Just make sure to have a lot of warm winter clothing so you can keep comfortable while traveling.

12. Bermuda

.warm weather

Bermuda is a tropical haven where you may retreat for a sumptuous, warm-weather getaway in March. There will be plenty of sunshine to enjoy the island's numerous attractions. Although the Atlantic Ocean won't be nearly warm enough for swimming, the location makes up for it with incredibly low rates on rooms at Bermuda's top hotels.

Visitors to the island on Good Friday will enjoy watching the residents fly their vibrant, homemade kites on Horseshoe Bay. Visit the Bermuda Aquarium, marvel at the renowned pink sand of Elbow Beach, perfect your putting at the Port Royal Golf Club, and go sightseeing in Historic St. George all during the month of March.

13. Hawaii's Maui

willingness

March is the perfect time for vacationers with sizable travel budgets and a willingness to splurge to visit Maui. Lows of 64 degrees Fahrenheit, highs near 80 degrees, and barely any risk of rain make the weather at this time of year remarkable.

You can plan to luxuriate on Maui's world-famous beaches every day of your stay, such as Napili Bay, Makena Beach, or Hana Beach Park. Top activities in Maui include hiking through Haleakala National Park and swimming in the freshwater Pools of 'Ohe'o. Don't forget to bring a towel, sunscreen, swimwear, and extra water!

14. India's New Delhi

delights

Although while India is always full with surprises and delights, the annual Holi festival in March elevates everything to a whole new level. One of the world's most joyous celebrations, this North Indian festival of color marks the end of winter and the victory of good over evil. You can bet that other travelers who have taken pictures of themselves covered in powder in every color of the rainbow have already experienced this festival.

Participate in Holi festivities in March in New Delhi, where locals especially welcome visitors. Simply witnessing families paint loved ones' foreheads with their thumbprints or seeing young boys shoot water guns at one another from rooftops is entertaining.

But taking part oneself is more exciting. Anyone who wanders around the backpacker district of Paharganj will undoubtedly come into contact with local children and shopkeepers throwing coloured powder at them, especially tourists. The celebration continues on the streets with music and dancing.

15. Japan's Kyoto

famous

The world-famous cherry blossoms of Japan don't usually bloom until April, but visitors can visit Kyoto in March to start the sakura season early. Trees in this culturally rich city typically produce an abundance of lovely blooms by the last week of the month, giving the landscape the appearance of an anime film come to life. For springtime scenery fit for a postcard, stroll along the Philosopher's Walk.

If you can't wait until the end of March to visit Kyoto, the first few weeks of the month offer a special seasonal treat: plum blossoms. At the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, you may see them in full bloom on the more than 2,000 trees there.

No of the specific dates, you should book a hotel room weeks or even months in advance to guarantee that you have a place to stay in Kyoto during this busy tourist season.
