This past weekend, thousands of Disney fans gathered in Anaheim, California, for the D23 Expo 2022, which is a biennial event that is loaded with pop-up storefronts, celebrity appearances, and a tonne of exciting news surrounding the Disney universe.
At this year's Expo, a number of new television shows and movies that will be available on Disney+ in the following year were announced; nevertheless, the upcoming enhancements to Walt Disney World and Disneyland are particularly exciting to us.
Josh D'Amaro, the chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, presented a presentation on what fans may anticipate from Disney theme parks in the near future on Sunday. The presentation lasted for ninety minutes and included musical acts as well as confetti. The following is a list of ten new attractions and enhancements that you really ought to get excited about.

Previous Next To celebrate The Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary, an all-new nighttime spectacular will debut at Disneyland park in late January 2023. "Wondrous Journeys" will ignite the wonder in all of us and feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, taking viewers on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. Disneyland will soon be getting new attractions based on Marvel and Star Wars.
Marvel and Star Wars are two of Disney's most successful properties, and soon, each of them will have even more of a presence at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
The Spider-Man ride and the Guardians of the Galaxy ride were the only attractions at the Avengers Campus theme park when it first opened in 2021. Bob Chapek, the CEO of Disney, announced during the D23 Expo that the company is now working on a third attraction. Chapek did say that it will feature the multiverse and allow guests to join the Avengers in fighting intergalactic foes—including a new version of Thanos—but the ride does not yet have a name, nor does it have an official launch date. Chapek did say, however, that the ride will feature the multiverse.
The President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, also took the stage (along with Mark Ruffalo, who appeared in a video) to make the announcement that the Incredible Hulk will be the newest walk-around character at Avengers Campus. Beginning in the middle of September, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with a full-size (as in, Hulk-size) persona for a short period of time.
Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, and the Mandalorian himself will be making their debut at the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park, according to director and executive producer of "The Mandalorian" Jon Favreau. Favreau gave the first glimpse at the two new characters on the Star Wars front. Midway through the month of November, both of these characters will begin to welcome guests.

The Pacific Wharf area is going to be renamed San Franciscokyo.
At Disneyland, a waterfront dining and shopping area called Pacific Wharf will be transformed into the fictional city of San Fransokyo from the film "Big Hero 6." This transformation will take place just around the corner from the Avengers Campus. The reimagining features new restaurants and retail establishments, in addition to meet-and-greet opportunities with Baymax, the movie's most huggable robot character.

Southern California favorite Porto's Bakery & Café is bringing its famous sweet pastries and desserts as well as delicious California-Cuban inspired dishes to the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort.

Frequently visited areas of Disneyland are undergoing refurbishment.
Other sections of Disneyland will also undergo renovations to make them more enchanted. Mickey's Toontown is slated to reopen in early 2023 after closing for renovations in March 2022. The new Mickey's Toontown will feature a plethora of vibrantly coloured and more welcoming play areas for children. A reimagined version of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, an attraction that is now exclusive to Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, will also be included in this section of the park when it opens.
The former name of the Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim, which will soon be renamed the Pixar Place Hotel, sits directly off of the Disneyland theme parks. D'Amaro states that the renovation will give visitors the impression that they are entering a Pixar art exhibition, complete with fresh takes on some of their favourite characters from Pixar films.
More than a dozen new and renovated venues are going to be added to the Downtown Disney District. One of these will be a new location of Porto's Bakery & Café, a well-known establishment in Southern California. The runDisney race, also known as a marathon competition in which participants compete while dressed as characters from Disney films, will finally be held at the resort again in 2024 for the first time since 2017.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure replaces Splash Mountain.
Since a few years ago, Disney has been dropping hints about the "Princess and the Frog"-themed transformation that will be coming to Splash Mountain. D'Amaro provided even more details about the transition at the D23 Expo. Late in 2024, the Tiana's Bayou Adventure attraction will open at both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort. It will feature the voices of the actors that appeared in the film's initial production.
The ride will have a style that is centred on New Orleans and will prominently include jazz throughout. Anika Noni Rose, who provided the voice of Tiana in the 2009 animated feature, entered the stage to perform the songs "Almost There" and "Dig a Little Deeper." These performances served as a teaser for what was to come.

A conclusion will be reached about the ongoing building at EPCOT.
It has been more than three years since building began on the EPCOT park at Disney World, but there is finally a glimpse of what the finished product will look like. The presenters revealed that two massive new attractions will be finished and open to the public in the latter half of 2023. One of them is the World Celebration neighbourhood, which is a central centre built to host large events and festivals. The other will be Journey of Water, a Moana-inspired attraction that allows tourists stroll through a tropical route filled with spectacular water features and learning experiences.

The Magic Kingdom will soon be home to a TRON roller coaster.
The TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, which is based on the film franchise of the same name, has been under construction for several years in Tomorrowland. In the spring of 2023, customers will be able to ride the attraction for the first time.
In addition, a well-liked attraction that has been closed for refurbishment will make its triumphant return to the Magic Kingdom. Even while the nighttime fireworks display that takes place over Cinderella Castle has never left the park, the show's theme tune, "Happily Ever After," has been changed with a new song this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Disney World. At the D23 Expo, attendees enthusiastically applauded as D'Amaro made the announcement that "Happily Ever After" will be played once more during the nightly fireworks show. This statement was welcomed with a warm reception.

There will be three attractions based on the movie "Frozen" that will be opening at worldwide parks.
Over the next few of years, a number of Disney parks located outside of the United States will have attractions based on the film "Frozen." The first attraction to open in Hong Kong Disneyland will be World of Frozen, which is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2023. The region will combine elements of the enchanted village of Arendelle from the movie with the natural sceneries that are seen on Lantau Island in the park.
An additional "Frozen"-themed park is currently being developed in Disneyland Paris. This one will be situated on a lakeside promenade and will be designed to appear like a winter wonderland, just like the ones that can be seen in the animated films.
Lastly, the Tokyo Disney Resort is constructing a brand-new hotel that will be situated within the park in addition to a new section of the park that is going to be called Fantasy Springs. This region will be themed after the movies "Frozen," "Peter Pan," and "Tangled." In order to make even more money off of the "Frozen" craze, Fantasy Springs is going to have an animatronic version of Elsa that sings in Japanese.
Shanghai is going to be the location of the debut of the company's first attraction based on the "Zootopia" franchise.
The computer-animated film "Zootopia," which was released in 2016, was such a success that it was just a matter of time until it secured some real estate in a theme park. The world of the Academy Award–winning film will be brought to life for the first time at Shanghai Disney Resort, the first Disney park to do so. The film features characters with a cartoonish look.
D'Amaro provided some sneak peeks of the upcoming neighbourhood, and it appears to be quite the charming place. At the entry to the park, which also serves as the gateway to the Zootopia Police Department, visitors will be met by an animatronic version of Officer Clawhauser, who is a favourite among fans. Guests will observe animals going about their normal business at Zootopia Central Station in the meanwhile. There is no known launch date at this time; however, building has begun, thus it is likely that it will open within the next year or two.

In spring 2023, the long-awaited return of the Magic Happens parade will come to life at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., during The Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary.

When Disneyland celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023, guests can look forward to a plethora of brand-new attractions.
D'Amaro capped off his presentation by providing a sneak peek at some of the numerous celebrations that are in the works for Disney100, the official name for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company which will take place in the upcoming year. New decorations, character interactions, and specialised foods and beverages will be introduced at parks all around the world, but the majority of the celebrating action will take place at the Disneyland Resort in California.
Two brand-new nightly spectaculars will begin to light up the skies over Disneyland in January 2023, marking the beginning of the new year's festivities. Guests will be taken on a journey through the history of Disney during a fireworks show called "Wondrous Journeys," which will include references to all 60 films produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios to this point. The second spectacular, which is going to be called "World of Color – One," will centre on Walt Disney himself and will tell the narrative of the creator through the eyes of popular characters. In addition, there will be a plethora of other entertainment opportunities appearing all throughout the resort, such as the revival of the Magic Happens procession in the spring.

Late in 2023, EPCOT's World Showcase Lagoon will also be the site of a brand-new nighttime spectacular; however, detailed specifics regarding the event are still limited. As part of the events commemorating the park's 25th anniversary, a new statue of Walt and Mickey will be unveiled in the area surrounding Cinderella's Carousel at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Plus, Disney Cruise Line is going to begin sailing new itineraries on a brand new ship.
If you would rather have your Disney experiences take place on the water than at one of Disney's theme parks, we have some exciting news for you as well. The Disney Treasure, the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, is scheduled to enter service in 2024, and initial renderings suggest that it will be one of the most enchanted ships ever built. The Grand Hall, a three-story atrium, can be found in the exact middle of the ship and was designed to resemble the palaces of Agrabah, the mythical city from "Aladdin." A statue depicting Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Magic Carpet will take pride of place in the middle of the hall, as is only fitting.

Beginning in October 2023, Disney Cruise Line will begin offering one-time-only voyages out of Australia and New Zealand based on Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars tales. These cruises will depart from those two countries. In addition, the Disney Wonder will begin sailing to South Pacific locations such as Fiji and Samoa, while the Bahamas are currently in the process of developing a magnificent solar-powered cruise port.
